I am writing this prior to the District convention in Reno, Sept 18-21. If you have never been to a Kiwanis International, Mid-Year or District Conference, than you have missed a great and fun time. This is an opportunity to meet some of the most enjoyable individuals as well as learning how Kiwanis operates from the inside out. Many great workshops will help you and your club function more effectively and sufficiently.
A number of clubs in division 8 are close to becoming a distinguished club and I commend them for this great stride forward. Clubs are doing the work and they need to receive the credit for an outstanding year.
I am reading a book titled " The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz. In the book Ruiz lays out a message that will guide us in division 8 this next year.
The four agreements in our lives and the lives of any organization are as follows:
Agreement One: Be Impeccable with your Word
Agreement Two: Don't Take Anything Personally
Agreement Three: Don't Make Assumptions
Agreement Four: Always do your Best.
As he writes and you begin to understand the true meaning of each of these agreements then your life and the Kiwanis service club that you are members will become more inspirational fun to be a part of in your community.
This has been a great year in Kiwanis Division 8 with many club activities and service projects.
Next year I look forward to MEMBERS FIRST AND SERVICE ALWAYS
Let's go forward with great spirit and enthusiasm for the rest of this year and next as we meet the needs of our children and community.
Looking to seeing you at the Installation on Sept. 16th at the Elk' lodge in Napa
